Extensive design package for the Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis Beatles-themed rom-com Yesterday. Including main, end, roller and location titles, social media explosion and enigma sequence.

With the main title font already decided (based on their 1963 logo), and given the volume and scope of the graphics required, we opted for a maximal approach, embracing the ephemera surrounding the band rather than hanging it on a singular style. An expanded, typographic and colour palette created a surreal, acid cohesion throughout.

Fonts, colours and transition styles varied according to each individual shot’s framing and action.

The pop palette runs throughout - including the enigma sequence. The heart device - a graphic link between the Summer of Love and social media hype.

Even the end roller gets the treatment with each department signposted fullscreen.
